BioTE® FAQs

Below are some questions that clients in Temecula often have about hormone replacement therapy and about the BioTE® Medical’s method of using pellets. All prospective clients will also have a consultation with one of our Certified BioTE Providers to discuss details and address concerns.

General Hormone Therapy Questions

What is pellet therapy?

IgniteRx Medical & Fitness offers bio-identical hormone replacement therapy in the form of subcutaneous pellets. These pellets are inserted subcutaneously in the body after testing, which is done to determine the levels of estradiol or testosterone each client requires.

What is the primary advantage to BHRT pellet therapy?

Pellet therapy differs from other types of hormone optimization because it works 24/7. Other administrations like pills or creams can create a rollercoaster effect for the user, because they do not release consistent amounts of the hormones throughout the day.

What is the advantage to bio-identical hormones over synthetic hormones?

Studies have shown that bio-identical hormones, such as the ones used by BioTE® Medical, work better with the chemistry of the body, because they closely replicate the molecular structure of the hormones that occur within the body.

What should I do before the procedure?

Your Certified BioTE Provider will give you instructions to follow prior to your appointment.

What test is required before the insertion?

At a minimum, BioTE requires a comprehensive blood panel, which you can discuss with one of our providers.

What happens during the in-office insertion?

Your Certified BioTE Provider will give you instructions to follow prior to your appointment.

What happens during the week following the insertion?

It’s best to eliminate lower body exercise until the bandage is removed. Walking is fine, but extraneous activity is not recommended. Swimming, hot tubs, and bathtubs should be avoided; however, showers are permitted.

What happens to pellets after insertion?

Since the pellets are bio-identical, they completely dissolved and are absorbed by the body, leaving nothing behind. They last between three and six months depending on gender, weight, absorption rates and the amount of hormone deficiency or surplus the client is experiencing. Pellets can be reinserted up to four times per year to help keep hormones optimized and balanced.

Questions About BioTE Estrogen Pellets

What are estrogen pellets?

Estrogen pellets are small cylinders composed of estradiol, a form of estrogen. They are used to treat emotional, reproductive and non-reproductive symptoms for both women and men.

What does estrogen do?

In women, it prompts the menstrual cycle and develops the female body’s secondary sex characteristics. In men, estradiol is responsible for the formation and maturation of sperm. Estrogen is also responsible for many things like bone health, metabolism, and skin’s collagen content for both genders.

How do estrogen levels change as we age?

Women’s estrogen levels are reduced as they get older, most dramatically right before and during menopause. Women that have had both ovaries removed in a hysterectomy usually struggle significantly with hormone imbalance.

What conditions may estrogen pellets be able to treat?

Estrogen pellets are prescribed to treat the effects of menopause, or things like chronically low mood, poor bone density, and cardiovascular health.

Questions About BioTE Testosterone Pellets

What are testosterone pellets?

Testosterone pellets are small cylinders made of custom compounded testosterone. They are used to treat a variety of emotional, reproductive and non-reproductive symptoms, and can be used preventatively for a number of conditions.

What does testosterone do?

Testosterone is a hormone found inside both men and women that are responsible for many different critical body processes. Testosterone is produced in the testes and ovaries, and deficiencies occur as the body ages.

What is the difference between BHRT and other hormone therapies?

Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), uses hormones whose molecular structure most closely represent the ones found in the human body. BHRT uses hormones from plant-based sources rather than the animal-based sources found in synthetic hormones. Pellets are the only form of testosterone replacement therapy that provides consistent dosing over a period of up to six months.

What conditions can testosterone pellets treat?

Testosterone pellets are intended to treat a wide range of reproductive, emotional and nonreproductive conditions. Some of these include low energy, chronic exhaustion, sexual dysfunction, mood swings, irritability and more.
